Questions?

FAQ’s

How are the families that receive the meals chosen?

They are screened and selected by the counselors and administrators of our Live Thankfully partnering schools.

Do you follow up with the families?

Yes. We do this through our school administrators. We provide resources and collaborate with other nonprofits to partner with our schools in this process.

Who can attend LT events?

All are welcomed. LT provides a family friendly serving environment for folks of all ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, and physical abilities.

Do you need help that Sunday before the “Party with a Purpose”?

YES!  Bring your families, staffs, small groups, sororities, fraternities and more to join us that day from noon on.  We will be sorting over 40,000 canned food items in preparation for packaging them that evening.

Can children come to help pass out meals the Tuesday before Thanksgiving?

Yes, all are welcomed to serve and help at all events.

Do you need us to bring anything to any of the events?

Your working bodies and eager spirits to serve are enough. BUT if you care to bring refreshments for the volunteers or have anything that you believe could make this service project more efficient, we welcome it!

How can I get my school involved?

Ask your counselor to contact us through this website.

Do I have to sign up to work the entire day?

No, simply tell us the hours that work best for you to serve and we will make it happen.

Can I get service hours working Live Thankfully?

Yes, you certainly can. We have forms to sign and give you or you may have us sign yours.

Are there any other service events offered through Live Thankfully?

Yes in the spring we offer a program, Created for Compassion, to our Live Thankfully students.

How is Live Thankfully funded?

Most of the funds given to Live Thankfully come from individuals and organizations that are committed to making a difference in the lives of kids in their communities. By investing in our future leaders, you are securing the future of your great community.

What makes Live Thankfully different than other turkey handouts and canned food drives?

We seek to instill dignity in those we serve by encouraging them to serve alongside us.  Many of the people packaging meals and actually handing them out, are recipients themselves.  Some of the hardest working volunteers we have are also meal recipients.  We aim to break down walls of distrust and build bridges of trust between those in need and those in their community who can help them.  Thus all of our LT schools have representation from their schools handing the meals to their recipient families.
